The Classic Ensemble: Audrey meets Chanel and leaves behind Givenchy!

As my first post on our new blog, I thought I would pay tribute to my fashion icons and guiding principles - Audrey Hepburn and the House of Chanel. For those of you who know me well enough, I love to dress in black and white, love sophistication over sexiness, pearls over diamonds, effortless chic over all things loud and blinged out! This is not to say that I'd never try something different - I would.I love having a surprise element - especially while we're still young and vibrant!! So for example, Louboutins achieve just this - what would otherwise be a classy shoe is tipped off with a hint of red, or should I say heel of red?!So whilst my basics would be 'black and white' as follows...................

*I love how this Marc Jacobs  'little black dress' has a loose fit with fine, soft fabric, a high neck (with my beloved bow!) and a hint of leg which gives it the 'I'd look at you twice because you have the beautiful and modest appeal'*

*Both Audrey Hepburn and our other timeless style icon Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis popularised oversized sunglasses back in the 1960s, and some 50 years later we have seen a brave revival of this timeless, ageless trend. They are bold because of both their size and the stunning touch of white (the surprise element I mentioned before) and yet classy because they are black and well...... they're Prada! You simply can't go wrong in these. They can be worn to make you feel like the 'woman on top', to prep up an otherwise  casual ensemble of jeans teamed with a tank, to cover a zit in the wrong place, or when you simply feel like stalking others in public and not just over facebook! *

When did you last see a lady with a posh white, square-shaped bag? You probably haven't! This bag is brilliant - besides the fact that it will go with almost anything, it screams 'I'm different and my owner is worthy of me!' This is truly my dream bag.
Shiny. Well contrasted. Good for work and pretty much any other decent outfit imaginable! Not too high (for those like me who love a bit more height, love the feminine sound of a girl walking in heels but not really the biggest fan of painfully crushing your toes after half an hour into a day out! And what's better is they're currently available at Wittner for only $150! (I say 'only' because it's only at a fraction of the cost of the rest of this outfit!

These aren't just any pearl earrings. They're translucent black pearls set in a diamond shaped flower, thus an exquisite exhibition of the 'surprise element'!

....................finish the outfit off with some Midnight Blue coloured nail paint, a generous application of Peach Pink blush, dolled up jet-black eye lashes (I think the Maestro Obsidian Black Mascara in the Georgio Armani range is best for this!), uber pumped up clear lip gloss and a quirky, youthful scent such as the newest addition to the  Daisy range by Marc Jacobs!

ok, ok I get it - the above ensemble may just be me dreaming about how I wish to spend a quarter of my life's savings, but what I tried to demonstrate is not only my idea of 'the perfect outfit', but in effect, an exaggeration for anyone who is out to achieve what I like to call the '3Cs: 'classic, classy and cool' - the sort of style NO ONE would dare to say 'ugly, what the hell is she wearing?!, she has bad taste, she is a skank etc etc'. So stay tuned in for upcoming posts where I show how I personally pull this 3C outfit off (or at least try to!) within reason of the fact that I'm still a victim of 'student poverty' !
